Senior Buyer

Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire (North London)


McMullen Façades is a leading unitised specialist façade contractor providing full design, fabrication and installation of unitised panels for medium and large scale building projects. Due to expansion, we are seeking a Senior Buyer to join our team at our head office.



The post holder will:

  • Analyse and report on supplier performance.
  • Carry out regular supplier factory visits.
  • Ensure there is sufficient support from purchasing and supply chain for the project teams.
  • Source, vet and recommend new local and overseas suppliers.
  • Liaise and support the site and factory management teams to ensure supplier performance meets the demands of the projects.
  • Liaise with the design department to find the right commercial solution whilst meeting the technical specification.
  • Provide planning department with up-to-date supplier lead times.



The candidate will:

  • Manage the McMullen suppliers to achieve on-time delivery in full to the right quality.
  • Manage project product and service tenders, including leading supplier meetings to review and negotiate on technical and price particulars.
  • Issue supplier recommendation reports for Director sign off on key packages (commercial and technical comparisons).
  • Improvement and development of business system – previously Navison but going forward the development of COINS to suit business requirement.
  • Record, measure and report on supplier performance metrics (KPIs) – OTD, confirmed date accuracy, NCRs etc.
  • Provide commercial team with support on spend vs budget.
  • Manage the purchasing department to ensure all purchase orders are timely and accurate and take account of current stock.
  • Provide support to the project teams so programmes and budgets can be achieved.
  • Work with suppliers to achieve best value for the business.
  • Develop our supplier base to promote best performance through competition.
  • Support other departments, especially estimating and design, where material information is required.



  • Proven experience in an applicable role.
  • Experience of working in an aluminium / glass fabrication company.
  • Experience of managing a purchasing function.
